#NYlon2014 was the best day EVER!

Well, it was, wasn't it?

Perhaps I was a little excited as before last weekend I had no "real life" sewing friends, just those from twitter, instagram, etc. So yeah, Saturday was a pretty big day for me, and it did NOT disappoint! What an amazing bunch of people, I just cannot believe the day actually met my super-high expectations! I just wish I took more photos.

Luckily, there was an official photographer, who took this lovely snap where I'm looking in the wrong direction:

as well as many other gorgeous photos of beautiful ladies and beautiful dresses which you can find in her Flickr album here.

I could literally waffle on for hours about how much I enjoyed myself, but I'll keep it short. The one thing that I really took away from the day, other than the overwhelming friendliness of absolutely everyone, was the way that everyone was so proud to be wearing items they'd made themselves.

Perhaps I have the wrong people as friends, but when I say "I made this dress myself" I'm often made to feel like I'm unnecessarily showing off/boasting/call it what you will. (Clearly they're just jealous!). A common response is "I know, I saw it on facebook". It was so refreshing to be in a crowd where I can say "I made this dress myself and I'm bloody proud of it, because I put a lot of time and hard work into it, and I think I did a great job". AND the amount of compliments I got on my dress just on this one day was easily more than I've had collectively, ever, in real life. The very lovely Fiona even said it was her favourite Ceylon she'd seen, which was so special as I've followed her blog and admired her creations for so long it's like hearing it from a sewing celebrity!

On top of that, everyone else was clearly proud of the creations they were wearing, and so they should be, as we all looked pretty amazing. And THAT, my friends is why I think we are awesome.

So now that the lovely Rachel has posted a humongous list of all of the blogs belonging to these lovely ladies, I have the not-so-small job of checking them out and adding them all to my blog feed. If anyone has found me from this list then a big hello to you, and I promise I will try to keep in touch with as many of you as possible!

Finally, here are the lovely new fabrics I picked up on the day, and I spent less than £20 woohoo!
